Our History
Production
From hands to hands
From hands to hands, Brusletto knives are handmade by our skilled employees at our factory in Geilo. Our knife makers carefully select raw materials for handles, sheaths, and blades, and process these materials all the way to the finished knife. This ensures that no two knives are exactly alike, but all our knives are made to last, backed by a lifetime guarantee. If something goes wrong, we repair the knife if possible; if not, you receive a new knife of equivalent value. Our core belief is that a Brusletto knife is a companion on journeys, a reliable tool to help you tackle both big and small tasks.
It should be by your side... always!
As shown in the photos from our production facilities, we use somewhat larger and tougher machines, but crafting a quality knife remains a manual process.
Did you know:
- To produce a single knife, an average of 50 manual operations are performed.
- Ox leather for sheaths is manually cut out.
- The quality can vary within the same piece of leather; we use only the best quality for our sheaths.
- The sheaths are hand-sewn.
- The handle is made from a wooden plank.
- Approximately 1 kg of raw masur birch is required to produce a knife handle.
- From blank to handle, shaping happens in just a few minutes on the lathe. The design of the handle is crucial for the knife's usability.
- The knife blades are hardened in ovens at 1075 degrees Celsius.
- Robots assist in production, but humans still play the most important role in knife manufacturing.
- Assembly and final polishing are done by hand at Brusletto & Co AS.
- All surplus steel and metal from cutting knife blades and bolsters are recycled.
- We use environmentally friendly and safe materials in our production facilities.
